What AppInsightly Does

AppInsightly is a native macOS menu bar app that connects to your Azure Application Insights resources to query telemetry and monitor application performance. The app runs entirely on your Mac.

Data We Access

When you connect AppInsightly to your Azure account, the app accesses your Application Insights data (logs, metrics, traces, server requests) through Microsoft's API using your authorized credentials. This data is fetched directly to your device and is not stored on any server we operate.

AI-Powered Features

AppInsightly offers optional AI-powered features, AI Search and AI Trace Explain, that use a third-party AI service to process queries. When you use AI Search, your search query is sent to the AI provider for processing. When you use AI Trace Explain, a summary of the operation trace is sent for analysis. Your actual Application Insights content beyond what is needed for the specific request is not sent to the AI provider. AI queries are not stored by us or used for training purposes.

You can control what data is included in AI requests from Settings → Display → AI Privacy, including field-level toggles and automatic PII redaction.

PII redaction automatically replaces sensitive data like emails, IP addresses, and tokens with safe placeholders before anything leaves your device, and is enabled by default.

Data Stored on Your Device

AppInsightly caches your data locally for performance and stores your saved queries and preferences. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

Analytics

We collect usage analytics and error reports to improve the app. This data does not include personally identifiable information, Application Insights content, or account details.

Licensing

AppInsightly uses a third-party payment provider to process purchases and manage subscriptions. When you buy a license, the payment provider handles your billing information. We receive a license key and subscription status but do not have access to your payment details.

Third-Party Services

AppInsightly connects to the following external services:

• Your Azure Application Insights resources (to query telemetry data)
• Microsoft identity platform (for authentication)
• Our update server (to check for app updates)
• Our licensing server (to validate your license)
• A third-party AI service provider (to process AI search and trace explain queries)
• An analytics provider (to collect usage analytics and error reports)

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data or Application Insights content. We only share limited data with the service providers described above as necessary to operate the app (analytics, licensing, updates).

Your Rights

Since your Application Insights data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by removing the app. If you have questions about data we may have received through analytics or licensing, contact us and we will assist you.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
